I put useless stuff in the trash. It was a good day.

“Edit your life frequently and ruthlessly. It's your masterpiece after all.”

Minimalism has been a topic of conversation around my house lately.  I'll share more on that later, but tonight I just want to say that I'm proud to finally be able to start to let go of some of the accumulated stuff that has been piling up over the past 3 years since we moved into this apartment.

Tonight I made a fairly large pile of clothes (30-ish pieces) to be donated to the local Goodwill store.  I also threw out about 10 pairs of old jeans (most of which had holes/were too worn to donate).  And I threw out old sheets that literally will not fit ANY bed we own.  I know that may not seem like much, but for someone like me who has a hard time letting go, it was a major victory.  Baby steps, right?

I'm also working on tagging up pretty much ALL of the outgrown baby/toddler clothes that we've accumulated over the years.   I actually had an entire CLOSET full of the stuff.  Now that I've decided the family is big enough, it's finally time to begin purging those items.  And with the Reading Just Between Friends sale about 2 months away, it's the perfect time to start that process and hopefully make a few dollars off of the sales!  I have never consigned before, so this will be an interesting experience.  I will be devoting time to writing about it as it progresses.

Needless to say, I'm starting the baby steps towards a more deliberate life.  Even if it has to begin one donated shirt at a time.
